Mitch Wayne en Kyle Hadley zijn al sinds hun jeugd vrienden. Marylee, de zuster van Kyle, hoopt dat Wayne ooit met haar zal trouwen, maar hij is, net als Kyle, verliefd op Lucy Moore. Kyle vraagt Lucy ten huwelijk, waar zij mee instemt, nog voordat Wayne zijn liefde voor haar kenbaar kan maken. Een jaar later merkt Lucy dat ze zwanger is, maar als Kyle ontdekt dat hij waarschijnlijk geen kinderen kan verwekken, suggereert Marylee dat Wayne en Lucy een relatie hebben.
